Made predominantly from American White Oak (Quercus alba), this 200-litre barrel is standard-issue for bourbon and widely adopted globally. The deep internal charring breaks down wood lignins into caramel and vanilla notes, forming the baseline flavour profile for much of the world’s whisky.
